I work as a power system protection engineer for Tesla Consulants and moved to Hamilton in 2005. I studied Electrical Engineering at Cantebury many years ago but only bought myself a computer because I wanted to try out Linux. That was about 8 years ago and there's been a lot of reading, tinkering and occasional reinstalls since.
I really appreciate open source concept because it makes learning and using computer technolgies relatively unrestricted in terms of money. And you get to learn and play with technologies that wouldn't neccessarily have mass market appeal.
Being part of a Linux User Group club is way to help the open software movement and expand your knowledge of computing technologies in general.
