Thanks for stopping by the WaikatoLinuxUsersGroup's web site.
This site is what is known as a WikiWikiWeb (or Wiki for short). Wikis are named after the Hawaaian word for 'quick', wikiwiki. The thing that sets wiki aside from other online content systems is that (with only a few exceptions), anyone can change, edit or add to any page in the Wiki, quickly and simply. For example, if you want to provide a better description of wiki than provided here, click 'Edit this page' in the bar above/below the content, and you will be given a text box to do so. This concept provides an easy way to create a collaborative knowledge base.
This particular Wiki is set up for the WaikatoLinuxUsersGroup. Anyone can create/change a page. You will be asked for a login, which must be a WikiWord -- two or more words with capital letters joined together, such as PerryLorier or CraigBox. The convention is that you should use your RealName as your login ID (there are no passwords.) See also Wiki:RealNamesPlease.
To create a page, all you have to do is refer to it with a WikiWord; for example, writing
Create me a PagePlease.
will result in
See also HowToUseWiki, and AddingPages, for more information. You are encouraged to have a play in the SandBox -- a testing page -- to see how things work. Remember you can always preview a page before you save it. (YouCanNeverPreviewEnoughTimes!) After you've learnt your way around the Wiki a bit, we highly recommend viewing the RecentChanges (top left of the page) to keep "up to date" on the "latest trends".
