The art of breathing oxygen underwater without drowning. Sometimes also referred to as voluntary drowning. It is a means for exploring the underwater world with your own eyes. Recreational diving allows diving of depths upto the 40m/130ft. This is usually enough to explore many of the different species of aquatic and marine life.
The Acronym SCUBA means Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus. You may want a more technical definition and a wee bit of history.
NewZealand is an excellent place to go SCUBADiving as it boasts one of the world's Top 10 diving sites, and has a large variety of climates surrounding the NorthIsland and the SouthIsland. There are not many places in the world where you can go diving with Dolphins and Whales one day, and the next be diving at a subtropical reef.
