Acronym for Constant BitRate.
An encoding process that keeps the bandwidth used constant while varying quality. Generally considered inferior to the opposite approach, as you waste bandwidth on sections that don't need it, while missing out on bandwidth on sections that do. However, CBR is simple to implement.
