SoftwareFreedomDay2011

Software Freedom Day 2011 is going to be held at the University of Waikato on 17th September, more details will be posted soon. We will be sending a call out on the list soon for volunteers, to help out with organizing the event. Info about last year's event:

Software Freedom Day 2010 18th September.

Come visit us at Centreplace mall near Whitcoulls as we celebrate SoftwareFreedomDay. We will be handing out the KiaOra DVD which is similar to the OpenDisc, a collection of FOSS applications for Windows. We will have 4 PCs setup to demonstrate the software. Stop by and say hi, or hang out for awhile and talk to passers by about FreeSoftware. We will be there all day during the mall's opening hours.

(See SoftwareFreedomDay2010.Planning for the planning information.)

Feedback from SFD2010:

  • "Were you handing Ubunutu disks out at Garden Place this weekend? Cheers, because my wife was given a copy and it was enough to push her into ditching Vista. - cybertao on the TM Computing message board

Epic win! (I assume this was us in Centerplace, fairly sure there was no other group handing out CDs in Garden place the same day!)
