From an optimistic point of view, the light is indicating that you and/or I are near the end of the tunnel.

However, from a pessimistic point of view, the source where the light is coming from, is not the end of the tunnel in sight, but in fact is a train coming towards you.

I guess it's like seeing whether the glass is half empty or half full. To me, that all depends what's in the glass, if it's beer then it's half empty, however, if it's cough medicine, it's half full.
