The MetaIX is an abbreviation for the MetaNET Internet Exchange. It is, in essence, the backbone of the MetaNET, as it is the peering location for all MetaNET native speakers (ie, Etud/wand nodes - if you connect via gre or pptp you dont count).
The 192.168.x.y address you have is your MetaIX address. DNS for the metaix.tla zone exists, but its not updated automatically at the moment.
