MagicPoint is an X11 based presentation program whose presentation file format is a plain text format similar to HTML.

We've recently done a series of presentations (the UnixTutorials) using MagicPoint.

Pros

• Plain text file format can be created in any editor
• Can shell out and run any commands, and display output (text or graphics) as part of slide
• Good HTML output (thumbnails)

Cons

• Not WYSIWYG - really bad for a presentation program
• Graphic placement ability appalling
• Can't do tables

MagicPoint is not a drop in replacement for Microsoft's !PowerPoint?. If you'd like one, try out OpenOffice Impress.
