LibreOffice is a cross-platform OfficeSuite, commonly found in LinuxDistributions. A fork of OpenOffice.org, from when Oracle (who bought it along with SunMicrosystems) seemed unlikely to do anything useful with it. LibreOffice is licensed under the LGPL v3 and does not require copyright contribution. Maintained by a group called The Document Foundation.

Oracle later donated the OpenOffice.org code to the ApacheSoftwareFoundation, who are maintaining their own version under the original name, but under the Apache License.
