-[Enlightenment | http://www.enlightenment.org/] is a completely themeable, highly configurable WindowManager for the X Window System, traditionally used in Unix environments
. It is currently up to release .16-ish
, commonly refered to as E16, while a mayor
rewrite is underway (and has been underway for years) for Enlightenment .17 (E17) which is planned to become a full desktop environment

-The
story is a bit more complicated than that
. They
almost put DR17 to public usage once
but Raster thought that to release
code that should
be rewriten
in a week or so
wasn't the
right way (some people think that he, as Mandrake are too perfectionist, don't know if is spelled this way). Well..
. You can see some results of his
decision in the DR17 [Enlightenment | http://www.enlightenment.org/] page. I suggest watching the movies, as static pictures don't show the potential of this desktop.

-A Japonese dude that work at Sun was developing a 3D WindowManager. The Screenshots are beatifull but it is written in Java and I don't know. I relly think that will take some time till this project is up to use. Its name is
LookingGlass.
