Just another ``scripting'' language. Tcl stands for Tool Command Language. Often paired with Tk to form the pair TclTk.
Unless forced to use it (as I have been) I would recommend Python over Tcl any day. It can be coupled with Tk (with Tkinter) or other GUI libraries, if you are looking for a multiplatform GUI prototyping language. At any rate, I believe Python beats Tcl (and many other intepreted languages) hands down. YMMV. -- SamJansen
