NetworkIsolation refers to an effect in which two parts of a network are seperated from each other and local connections still work fine but connections to non-local machines fail.
To users NetworkIsolation often appears as a complete loss of internet connection, particular to those user used to connecting to widely known remote hosts (Google, Yahoo) as a matter of course. An IRC NetSplit? is also a species of NetworkIsolation.
