NdisWrapper is a Linux Kernel Module that wraps around vendor provided NDIS (ie, Windows) drivers.

This allows you to take network or wireless card with Windows-only drivers and have it work fairly cleanly under Linux. I believe NdisWrapper is based on FreeBSD's Project Evil.

One thing I have found with NdisWrapper is that for Broadcom support I have not had success getting it working on versions greater than 0.12. The mailing list discussions bear this out as well with lots of problems with releases >1.0 -- IanMcDonald (Not sure if this still applies as I wrote this over a year ago. I would guess probably not)
