Linspire is the new name of LindowsOS, a Linux distribution started by Michael Robertson, the founder of MP3.com.

It was originally built to be a distribution of Linux especially designed for running Windows applications (using Wine). It has grown into a commercially oriented Linux distribution, which is sometimes criticized by the OSS community for "their complete disreguard for licensing conditions and the very spirit of Free/OpenSource software!"

It automatically logs in as root, without a login screen, but that is what Windows users are used to.

Finally, a distribution that brings everything I hated about Windows 98 to Linux! Wow, it even logs you in as root so you can be screwed by viruses and Trojans! - SimonCrosby
