A trend, which, while not new, has certainly picked up steam in the last decade.
It is no longer permissable for a successful company to simply attain leadership in its field. Nope, the thing to do once you have even the slightest toehold in a given market is to start purchasing other companies. Never mind that their existing customers were happy with the way things were, of course they'll love you more! This is rampant in the ISP market.
