scp is a damn cool protocol (much like rcp but with security) that allows one to transfer files between machines.

scp(1) is an Acronym for "secure cp", and designed to be a secure replacement for rcp(1) which was well known to be insecure. scp(1) does it's copying completely over ssh(1), so if you can ssh(1) to a box, you can scp(1) to or from it. scp(1) also allows you to use authorized_keys for passwordless secure copying.

See: scp(1), rcp(1), ftp(1), ssh(1).
