* xalf for Debian -*- outline -*- ** libxalflaunch Though this package contains a shared library in /usr/lib, it is not an error that it provides no shlibs file, does not call ldconfig, and has no -dev package. This library is not intended for applications to link against. It is used via LD_PRELOADs done by the included xalf program. GNOME does this automatically when running programs, but you can use 'xalf <command>' to get launch feedback on any X application. ** Problems with Mozilla There is one issue i haven't yet figured out with xalf, and i think it only affects Debian systems. If you install this package, Mozilla can no longer be launched by GNOME launchers that simply run 'mozilla'. Instead, they have to run 'gnome-moz-remote --newwin ""'. ** Problems with GUI Java programs The same problem with Mozilla applies to GUI Java programs. -- Eric Gillespie, Jr. <epg@debian.org> Sun, 15 Apr 2001 15:30:16 -0500
