NAME
       update-xanim-modules - download updated modules for xanim

SYNOPSIS
       update-xanim-modules [--sanitation] [path]

DESCRIPTION
       This  manual  page briefly documents the update-xanim-mod-
       ules command.

       update-xanim-modules downloads updated video decoders  for
       the  xanim  video  player  from the author's FTP site, and
       installs them in  /usr/lib/xanim.   It  then  records  the
       downloaded  files  for deinstallation when this package is
       removed.

       These modules may be useful  if  you  have  animations  in
       egregiously  non-free  formats  you wish to display.  How-
       ever, because the author is unable  to  distribute  source
       for them, you should consider whether you trust him enough
       to install his code sight unseen on your system.  I (Chris
       Lawrence)  have not seen the source code for these modules
       and therefore cannot make any guarantees as to  its  secu-
       rity implications.  Caveat downloader.

OPTIONS
       --sanitation
              Clean  up  your  /usr/lib/xanim/xanim-modules file.
              Automatically called by the postinst when upgrading
              from versions that did Bad Things to this file.

       path   Specified  the  path the module tar files have been
              downloaded into.

ENVIRONMENT
       ftp_proxy
              URL to use as an FTP proxy for downloading the mod-
              ules.    Normally   an   HTTP   URL   of  the  form
              http://HOST:PORT/

       /usr/lib/xanim/xanim-modules
