NOTE: THIS SOURCE PACKAGE DOES NOT CONTAIN THE COMPLETE SOURCE CODE
OF THE EGCS-1.1.1 PACKAGE. IT'S MISSING THE G77, PASCAL, OBJECTIVE-C
AND TESTSUITE PARTS.

This is the Debian GNU/Linux prepackaged version of the EGCS project
compiler suite, containing C, C++, Objective-C and Fortran-77, and the
libstdc++ support library. It is derived from a gcc-2.8 snapshot (May
1998) of gcc, which was written by Richard Stallman and a cast of
thousands. (See "Contributors" in the gcc info documentation for a
full list.)

The compilers are split into several binary packages: (e)gcc (which
has support for C, g++ (which supports C++), gobjc (which supports
Objective C), g77 (supports Fortran) and gpc (supports standard,
extended and Borland Pascal). Beginning with 2.92.21 supports chill
(Chill language) and gcj (Java). This may change in the future. The egcs
versions of libstdc++ and lib++ are also provided.
Documentation is provided in the packages egcs-docs, g77-doc and gpc-doc.

This package was put together by the Debian GCC maintainers
<gcc@packages.debian.org>, with sources obtained from:

where yyyymmdd corresponds to the Debian package version.
