!!DESCRIPTION |
20 |
21 |
22 |
This program helps make and manage translations of debconf |
23 |
templates. There are basically three situations in which |
24 |
this program might be called: |
25 |
26 |
27 |
A translation is just being started. |
28 |
29 |
30 |
You want to provide the translator with a file they can work |
31 |
on that has the English fields from your templates file, |
32 |
plus blank Field-ll fields for the traget language that they |
33 |
can fill in. |
34 |
35 |
36 |
To do this, run the program with first parameter being the |
37 |
code for the language that is being translated to, and the |
38 |
second parameter being the filename of the English templates |
39 |
file. |
40 |
41 |
42 |
A translation is well under way. |
43 |
44 |
45 |
You have changed some English text, or added more items to |
46 |
your templates file, and you want to send the translators a |
47 |
file with the English text plus their current translations |
48 |
(or you are the translator, and you want to generate such a |
49 |
file for your own use). |
50 |
51 |
52 |
To accomplish this, run the program with the first parameter |
53 |
being the the code for the language that is being translated |
54 |
to, the second parameter being the filename of the master |
55 |
English templates file, and the third parameter being the |
56 |
filename of the current translated file. |
57 |
58 |
59 |
When run this way, the program is smart enough to notice |
60 |
fuzzy translations. For example a fuzzy Description will be |
61 |
output as Description- |
62 |
63 |
64 |
Checking the status of a translation |
65 |
66 |
67 |
To check the status of a translation, use the --status flag, |
68 |
and pass the english template file as the first parameter, |
69 |
and all the other translated templates after that. It will |
70 |
output statistics for each of them. For |
71 |
example: |
72 |
73 |
74 |
debconf-getlang --stats debian/templates debian/templates.* |
75 |
!!NOTE |
76 |
77 |
78 |
Note that the text in the generated templates may be |
79 |
word-wrapped by debconf. |
