While the [WLUG] is open to all comers, there's a few sub-groupings within the club that might help to explain some of the culture in the WlugWiki, the WlugMailingList and at meetings. * There's a lot of students and alumni from WaikatoUniversity * There's a lot of people involoved with networking, specifically in the WandGroup * There's a lot of ex users of a BulletinBoardSystem * There's a few people from [NZNOG] * There are a lot of people that don't like MicrosoftWindows (however, see WlugIncorporated -- the role of the WaikatoLinuxUsersGroup is to advocate Linux/OSS, not to be Anti-MicrosoftCorporation) ** And there are just as many people that do like it - so don't be put off, and sensible [Windows] help will often be offered to the best of everyone's ability * HEAPS of people know each other through UnderNet * Some members like to consume CheapEnergyDrinks like there's no tomorrow In the most part, the vocal supporters of the [WLUG] will be under 30, IT professionals or students, but this doesn't mean that if you do not fit that stereotype you shouldn't get involved. We try and follow the CodeOfEthics.
