A C/C++ programming environment with extensive RAD features (not unlike VisualBasic) sold by MicrosoftCorporation. As is to be expected, it only runs on MicrosoftWindows and only targets that same platform.
Also the dialect of C++ which this Compiler accepts.
Note that VisualC++ uses a dialect of Standard C++. Moving C++ sourcecode from say GCC (which is very standard compliant) to VisualC++ will usually require some (minor or major) adjustments to the code.
Will eventually be superceded by C#?
