 A variant called VBA, ie "[VisualBasic] for Applications", is used to script MicrosoftExcel/Word documents. It is often used to write macro viruses. Thanks, Bill!

+More recently, MicrosoftCorporation decided to 'rewrite' Visual Basic into Visual Basic.NET, which bears even less resemblance to the original [BASIC], and is basically [C#] but using a slightly different syntax. Lots of Visual Basic developers all got very angry about this because it is not backwards compatible in any way, and is in fact not really even visual basic, it just looks like it.
