The abstraction of various interfaces as a normal FileSystem that is presented systems, both in the application layer and within the [Kernel]. Examples include using a [loopback device|LoopDevice] to make a single file look like a whole filesystem, or anything that accesses files across a network (for example, [NFS], [SSH], [Samba], etc) and allows local applications to read/write/access files.
