!!! [XML] / [SGML] When referring to [XML] or [SGML] documents, the term [Valid] means that the document conforms to the [DTD] or [Schema] specified or referred to in the header. You can use the ''sgmlnorm(1)'' program to check whether a file validates against its [DTD]. For example, I use this when creating [HTML] files. The HTML file starts with: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN"> and then sgmlnorm validates it against [W3C]'s strict.dtd and tells me all my mistakes (having text that's not in <P> or <DIV> tags is one that I keep making).
