Usually when configuring kerberos for syncing with active directory, its one of the first things that you do, particuarly if you want set up Samba for the ADS security model. One of the most essential things that you need to have configured is kerberos, as its required before you can even consider using Active Directory. Because kerberos is so essential, I often find it more useful to configure my /etc/krb5.conf using IP addresses rather than the domain name because, if for some reason the DNS service on the windows box goes down, I can still contact it for kerberos tickets.
