A transmission line is any piece of wire connecting two components. Transmission lines have a CharacteristicImpedance measured by combining their unit length capacitace and unit length resistance. Thus, a Transmission Line has a CharacteristicImpedance irrespective of length. Common TransmissionLine types include: * Most Coaxial Cable (Aerials / 10base2 networks). * PCB Traces * Peripheral Connector Cables (SCSI / IDE Connectors) * National Power Grid The CharacteristicImpedance of a TransmissionLine needs to be matched to the OutputImpedance of the driver and the InputImpedance of the load. See ImpedanceMatching for information on matching transmission lines. ----- CategoryElectronics
