A Patent that covers a software "invention". Granted in the US and the EU, though they're not actually currently legal in the EU.

The European council is pushing for unlimited patentability of software. See FFII: Software Patents in Europe
- The draft of the legislation has been ratified, but has not been formally accepted. It's not clear (to the author) whether or how this acceptance can be opposed.
