[Acronym] for __S__imple __O__bject __A__ccess __P__rotocol. A way for a computer program to call a function on a website. The usual [SOAP] example is quering a web server at [IBM] which returns (delayed) stock quotes. This Wiki has a [SOAP] source letting you grab the wiki source of a webpage. the [URL] is http://www.wlug.org.nz/phpwiki.php (going there with a web browser doesn't work :P), and the function is "getPage", it takes a string which is the name of the page and returns a string (of the contents of the page).
