A software engineer and influential mind in the era of structured programming who invented the ProgrammingLanguages Algol-W, Pascal, Modula2, and Oberon.
Though he does not go to the extreme that ChuckMoore does, he favours simplicity in programming language design -- perhaps just a little too much for some programmers' comfort.
Pascal was conceived primarily as a teaching language and is probably the best known, as are its limitations. Modula2 was his attempt to overcome them and create a real SystemsProgrammingLanguage?. It is said that it would be everyone's favorite programming language if it only had one more feature, but no one agrees on what that feature should be.
