Debian users can skip to AptSourcesList.

If you'd rather buy these on CD or DVD, check out GettingLinux.

Please only download from these mirrors if you are in NewZealand, as many NewZealand hosts get charged for international traffic. It is worth getting the latest version of whatever distro you are after. This is so you get the current features and security fixes.

InNeedOfRefactor: too much clutter. A lot of information seems to be out of date. The raw list added at the bottom seems to list mirrors in too few categories judging by information from the top half of the page. But it's better as a list of "distro/project: mirrors" is more useful than a list of "mirror: distros/projects" if you're interested in finding things rather than informing yourself about specific mirrors. Any suggestions/ideas/updates? --AristotlePagaltzis

ftp://ftp.jetstreamgames.co.nz/ -- Xtra JetStreamGames

If you're a JetStream customer, you can log into DSL as user@jetstreamgames.co.nz and get free, up to 8mbit access to a regularly updated Debian mirror. (If you're not good with DNS, you might want to set your apt line to reference 203.96.91.1 instead).

ftp://linux.jetstreamgames.co.nz/ also has a Debian Portage mirror.

http://ftp.tranzpeer.net/ -- Attica

This was originally a huge mirror but the discs were needed for somethng else, so it's been reborn a bit quieter. Available to people whose ISPs peer at APE/WIX (most of them).

Has a Debian mirror, Debian Security mirror, some RedHat (at time of writing: 8.0/9.0) ISOs, Mandrake (9.1) ISO's and FreeBSD (4.7/5/5.1) ISOs.

http://www.debian.co.nz/

Restricted Mirrors

ftp://ftp.waikato.ac.nz/ -- Waikato University
Debian mirror is for stable (woody) and old stable (potato) only; Slackware mirror seems OK (ftp://ftp.waikato.ac.nz/pub/slackware/). Unfortunately this mirror is only available for users within the University. Up until a month or two ago it was (unintentionally I think) available to all, but it has since been restricted.
ftp://ftp.phys.canterbury.ac.nz/pub/linux/distributions/ -- Canterbury University
Redhat 6.2, 7.0 - 7.3 (packages and ISOs). Note: only available on campus now.
ftp://ftp.orcon.net.nz/pub/Linux/dists/ -- Orcon

28/9/08: missing in action.

Corel Linux, OpenLinux, Peanut Linux, YellowDog.

ftp://ftp.orcon.net.nz/pub/mirrors/ has RedHat, Gentoo, Mandrake, Slackware and the LinuxKernel.
