NetBSD was the first of The Three free [BSD]s and developed from [386BSD] 0.1 code, NetBSD 0.8 was released 19 Apr 1993. The other BSDs also owes their existance to 386BSD, [FreeBSD] directly as it also is forked from 386BSD 0.1 and [OpenBSD] due to the fact that it's a fork of NetBSD.
