An abbreviation for not acknowledged. ASCII character NAK 0x15 (^U) is used in simple serial protocols to signal that a block of data was not recieved correctly and should be resent.

Also used as the name for a pulse in the electrical protocol of a chip or for one of its pins.

Frequently used by geeks as a humorous reply to "ENQ"
