MythTV is a project to provide the "mythological" DigitalConvergence box. It provides [PVR] functionality, including time shifting live TV (where you can pause and later start replaying/rewind live TV), programmed recording of TV shows, playing back video & audio, and also has plugins for a weather channel and a game frontend. You can use it with hardware [MPEG] 2 encoders like the [Hauppauge PVR-350 | IvTv], software TV tuner cards like the BrookTree 878, or any other TvTunerCards supported by the Video4Linux [API]s.
