A software company who make/made DOS, MicrosoftWindows, MicrosoftOffice and InternetExplorer as well as the VisualStudio, VisualBasic, VisualC++ and MicroSoftDeveloperNetwork development tools.

As a commercial enterprise their main sources of income have historically been selling software, principally through the OEM market. Microsoft code is not released under the GPL and the details of the contracts with OEM clients are usually supressed.

Historically they have also sold UNIX in the form of Xenix, but all references to this have been wiped from their WebSite.

You've heard of these guys. Their HeadHoncho?, BillGates, was on Frazier the other night. That's how big they are. Their web address is http://www.microsoft.com/. Their street address is One Microsoft Way. Some even say that it's their company slogan too.

Some people summarize them as Indescribable. Pure evil. Makes Cthulhu look cute and cuddly.

They do, however, provide a lot of people with a lot of jobs, and while I believe they need to make some fundamental changes to the way they operate, is simply ordering they be closed down, good for the corporate world?

Well, given that a lot of the people they provide with jobs are MarkeTroids, would we not be better off without 'em? ;) -- GreigMcGill

TODO: a list of MS FUD links, Halloween document, DRM stuff, whatever could be interesting. MicrosoftDirtyTricks.

See MicrosoftQuotes for some of their wackier public statements.
