-The OperatingSystem originally developed for AppleCorporation hardware and used throughout the years prior to the debut of [MacOSX ].
-
-Technically, it is very different from its successor, and has nothing to do with [Unix]. It shares many overall design choices with MicrosoftWindows prior to Win32 (which came later, if only by a smidgen.) Multitasking is cooperative: task switching is not done by the [Kernel] via a timer interrupt, but happens when the running application yields the [CPU]. There was no memory protection either: any process could write into any part of memory, including areas allocated to another process or the system itself. This meant that any application could crash or freeze the entire system.
