Acronym for International Business Machines. A company that prides itself on having the most patents of any other company in the world(?). Was originally in the hardware manufacturing business, but lost its way when PersonalComputers came along. It tried to make it up again with OS/2 and the "PS/2" (not the playstation), and had MicrosoftCorporation rape it on one side, and the clone makers rape it on the other. It now concentrates on "Services" and Mainframes. It's realised that Linux is a powerful operating system that can be used to provide "Solutions" that they don't have to pay to develop, and isn't controlled by some other company such as Microsoft who can use it as leverage over them, so it has become a very powerful supporter of Linux, spending millions on promoting Linux around the world.
