It's realised that Linux is a powerful operating system that can be used to provide "Solutions" that they don't have to pay to develop, and isn't controlled by some other company such as Microsoft who can use it as leverage over them, so it has become a very powerful supporter of Linux, spending millions on promoting Linux around the world.
