Hewlett Packard is a computer company. They have existed forever.
HP have bought Compaq, so many more corporate computers will be branded HP.
HewlettPackard are actually not a bad computer from the corporate sense, in fact their business PCs are quite neat. their backup service (as was compaq) is extremely good, cant really comment on home PCs, but i have known many people having issues.
HP are also quite famous for their calculators.
They make decent Laser printers, and pretty awful consumer ink jet printers. They sell the printers cheap and make all the money back via their printer cartridges.
