The [Windows] administrative method for controlling settings on client PCs using Windows 2000 or higher. [1] Administrators use Group Policy to specify options for managed configurations for groups of computers and users. Group Policy includes options for registry-based policy settings, security settings, software installation, scripts, folder redirection, Remote Installation Services, Internet Explorer maintenance, and other components. Policy settings are contained in Group Policy objects (GPOs), which can be linked to domains, sites, and organizational units in Active Directory. GPOs are most commmonly linked to OUs.
