FreeView is a free-to-air Digital Television broadcast.
The same name is used in England and New Zealand and possibly Australia as well.

There are presently two sources of FreeView signal:

  • Satellite, DVB-S via the Optus D1 bird, where Sky pay-tv comes from
  • Terrestrial, DVB-T via UHF

DVB-T may also offer Higher Definition than DVB-S, which is marketed as FreeView|HD.
