Dell is another large computer maker, based in the US [http://www.dell.com/] They've got a bad rep lately for bringing out a BIOS for the Inspiron laptops (version A23) which makes the video card totally incompatible with Xfree86. Naturally, this has upset many linux users. Will it be resolved? Or does Dell become a "must-avoid" ? Another reported rumour is that some [Dell] lithium ion batteries have a charge/discharge counter, which disables the battery after 300ish charge cycles. Seems unlikely, just don't run your LiIon batteries into the ground voltage-wise. In [NewZealand] [Dell] is available over the phone, or from their web site, or basic desktops and laptops can be bought at the Warehouse.
