Acronym for Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer.

A piece of equipment housed at the exchange that decodes the DSL signals and converts them to some other protocol. Roughly the Telco version of a DSL modem. Typically deals with 10s,100s or 1000s of customers at once.

Usually converts PPPoA over DSL to PPPoA over SDH, or from PPPoE over DSL to PPPoE over Ethernet.
