DSIR was disbanded in 1992 when it was restructured into 10 individual Crown Research Institutes

One of the nodes and significant computational resources were located at Soil Bureau (now Landcare Research http://www.landcareresearch.co.nz/), which was then located behind Taita College in Lower Hutt. Landcare is now based on campus at MasseyUniversity, with additional computing resources on LincolnUniversity and WaikatoUniversity campuses.
