 Also known as RAID-M (Redundant Array of Inexpensive DRAMS for Memory), ChipKill applies the concept of RAID to main memory. This overcomes the limitations of normal ECC by applying RAID5 across your DIMMS. The other benefit is that you gain back some of the performance lost to the XORing in normal ECC.
