CRUX1? is a LinuxDistribution aimed at experienced users (ie people who know what they're doing). It features a .tar.gz based package system, BSD-style initscripts and a minimal base package set. The standard distribution is compiled for i686?, 3rd-party builds are available for i586? and PowerPC.

CRUX packages are build from source into .tar.gz files (no pre or post install scripts). CRUX has 4 CVS official repositories of packages, base and opt (maintained by Per Lidén who created CRUX) and contrib and unmaintained (maintained (or not) by others). Unofficial repositories are registered with http://clc.morpheus.net/portdb/.
