[C++] from [C], initially as a set of [Template]s to do ObjectOrientedProgramming which evolved to become more and more sophisticated until it was a completely seperate language, with a seperate standard and [Compiler]. BjarneStroustrup has been very careful to never endorse a particular [Compiler], but gives a list of them on his home page at: http://www.research.att.com/~bs/homepage
