A computer made by AppleCorporation and well known for its ease of use. It features: Proprietary Hardware and Software, a computer named the Emac (that's just wrong) and a large number of MacFanatics. It runs MacOS as its operating system.

There's a nice backronym for MACINTOSH: "Machine Always Crashes, If Not, The Operating System Hangs."

This has been largely improved recently by Apple using a varient of FreeBSD called Darwin to base their MacOS X operations system. So while you may be going spare with a one button mouse you can open a terminal and use the shell just like under Unix. All your old favourite commands are there, cat, ls, cd, tail, sed, perl, etc, it's like a $HOME away from $HOME
