This page is to help you set up [ADSL] (assuming you are in NewZealand!) ---- Modem Specific Notes * [Cisco827] * AlcatelSpeedTouch * Alcatel [SpeedTouch510] * D-Link [DSL-300+] * [3Com] HomeConnect * Nokia [M11] (and [M1122]) * Nokia [Ni500] * [ASUS6000] * Turbocomm [IA310] * [AccessRunnerADSLModem] - As sold by World-Net (Conexant Tigris Chipset) * D-Link [AHL110] * Puretek/Conexant [PT3808] * Dynalink [RTA220] ---- General * [TelecomNZ] uses a value of 0 for [VPI] and 100 for [VCI]. If your modem isn't configured for this, then it won't work yet, but bitstream access may change this. I think most sold in NZ now have this correctly set... * You have to use [PPPoA] (which is also known as RFC 2364, and stands for PPP over [ATM]). PPPoE won't work. ''--This refers to the protocol that operates from your modem to the ISP. If you have an external modem, you can use PPPoE from the modem to a linux machine, for example. The [3Com] HomeConnect works this way'' * Log in as ''username@isp.co.nz'' through the ADSL network. * To test an ADSL connection without an ISP, you can always use the username: ''user@jetstreamgames.co.nz'', with any password you would like. You can find a lot of useful information in the mailing list archives at [http://unixathome.org/adsl/] (it's based in NZ).
