The first CPU in Motorola's 680x0 series.
Used in early Macintosh and Lisa? computers, Commodore Amigas, Atari STs, NeXT computers, the SEGA MegaDrive and many embedded systems as well as IBM Lexmark (and probably other older) laser printers.
On later Mac's (68030 and upwards) such as the SE30, there's a 
http://www.mac.linux-m68k.org/ project to get Debian running on them. If anyone wants to have a play with this I have a few older Mac's in my garage which still run. I spent a few weeks on it myself but didn't get too far :(
